China’s First Precast Concrete High-Quality Development Forum Under Urban Renewal Successfully Held in Guangzhou

2025 09/24

September 6, 2025, Guangzhou — The inaugural "High-Quality Development Forum on Precast Concrete Under the Context of Urban Renewal," hosted by the China Concrete and Cement-based Products Association (CCPA) and co-organized by three of its branches—Precast Concrete Components Branch, Cement Concrete Pipes and Culverts Branch, and Ecological Concrete Branch—was successfully convened at the Guangzhou Guangjiaohuitang. Under the theme "New Opportunities, New Applications, New Development, New Future," the forum brought together leaders, experts, scholars, and representatives from enterprises, engineering design institutes, construction units, and related industrial chains across China to explore innovative pathways and development prospects for precast concrete in the national urban renewal strategy.

Wang Zhaojia, Special Vice President of CCPA, attended and delivered an opening speech. He emphasized that as China’s urbanization enters a new phase focused on improving quality and efficiency in existing urban areas, urban renewal has become a vital component of the national strategy. Precast concrete, with its advantages of standardization, industrialization, and assembly, is emerging as a key force in promoting green, low-carbon urban transformation and enhancing construction quality.

Wang Zhaojia stressed that facing the vast market opportunities and technical challenges brought by urban renewal, the industry must accelerate technological innovation, promote cross-sector integration, and fully advance green and low-carbon development to achieve a strategic transformation from "traditional material suppliers" to "comprehensive service providers for urban infrastructure."

The forum featured high-quality thematic reports covering policy interpretation, technology R&D, engineering practices, and market prospects. It was co-chaired by Jiang Qinjian, CCPA Special Vice President and Chairman of the Precast Concrete Components Branch, and Li Jianhua, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the CCPA Cement Concrete Pipes and Culverts Branch.

In his report titled Strategic Thoughts on High-Quality Development of the Precast Concrete Industry Under Urban Renewal, Jiang Qinjian, Professor-level Senior Engineer and Director of the Beijing Precast Construction Engineering Research Institute, analyzed the market transformation characteristics and high-quality development needs of the construction industry under urban renewal. Integrating management models and product technological innovation in the precast concrete industry, he proposed strategies and recommendations for enterprise transformation and high-quality development from the perspectives of green low-carbon goals, digital intelligence, and future application scenarios.

Long Yufeng, President of the Shenzhen Construction Industrialization Association, Director and Vice President of Huayang International Design Group, and Senior Prefabricated Building Engineer, presented a report titled Innovation and Practice of Precast Concrete Technology in the Greater Bay Area in the New Era. He shared Shenzhen’s cutting-edge explorations and practical achievements in modular integrated construction (MIC), integrated envelope and interior decoration components, and prestressed concrete rapid building systems.

Li Bo, Senior Engineer and Deputy General Manager of Beijing Turen Urban Planning and Design Institute, in his report Innovative Design and Application Practice of Ecological Concrete in Urban Landscape Renewal Projects, demonstrated the unique advantages of ecological concrete in integrating engineering, ecological, and aesthetic values through several landmark cases.

An Guanfeng, Professor-level Senior Engineer and Chief Engineer of Guangzhou Engineering General Contracting Group, discussed Challenges and Opportunities for Precast Concrete Pipes and Culverts Development Under Urban Renewal. He pointed out that the industry should seize opportunities in intelligent upgrading and green transformation, deeply integrating into the national new infrastructure and "Dual Carbon" strategy.

Li Yaoliang, Professor-level Senior Engineer and Advisory Chief Engineer of Shanghai Foundation Engineering Group, systematically introduced Key Technologies of Pipe Jacking Construction and Application of Cement Concrete Pipes, emphasizing the environmental friendliness and economic benefits of pipe jacking in trenchless construction.

Tian Shengli, Senior Engineer and Assistant Manager of Beijing JinYu Mortar Co., Ltd., in his report Innovative Application and Market Prospects of Future Mortar in Urban Renewal, focused on the diverse varieties and multifunctional characteristics of mortar, aligning with the complex and varied needs of urban renewal scenarios such as old residential area renovations, municipal infrastructure updates, and urban ecological and landscape enhancements.

During the guest dialogue session, five experts—Wang Yulei (CCPA Vice President and Chairman of Beijing Yugou Co., Ltd.), Wang Guohua (CCPA Vice President, Party Secretary and General Manager of Tianshan Materials Central Research Institute/Suzhou Concrete and Cement Products Research Institute Co., Ltd.), Jiang Qinjian, Long Yufeng, and An Guanfeng—engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including "sustainable development of the precast concrete industry," "enterprise transformation and upgrading," and "technology and scenario innovation." They unanimously agreed that the industry should strengthen industry-university-research-application collaboration, break through key technological bottlenecks, and build a new, integrated industrial ecosystem.

The forum concluded successfully in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere. As one of the key sub-forums of the "2025 China Concrete and Cement-based Products Industry Conference," it not only provided a high-end exchange platform for the industry but also facilitated deep integration and innovative cooperation across the industrial chain through policy dissemination, technology sharing, and case studies. Driven by future urban renewal and construction industrialization, the precast concrete industry is ushering in unprecedented development opportunities and is poised to contribute significantly to the high-quality and sustainable development of Chinese cities.
